Ask any woman, or metrosexual, and s/he will tell you hair is a like a cathedral’s spire. One of my childhood friends agrees and would add that spires come in all types of textures.
GoodHair will be the first, national hair salon chain specializing in care and styling for women with textured (i.e., kinky, coily, curly or wavy) hair.
Their concept? “Professional women with textured hair need easy access to healthy, fast and affordable hair care services.” I – and many of you – say amen!
Folake and Anthea, both working moms, spent a year researching the hair industry and the NYC market. They realized they needed a way to quickly assess customer demand for their concept. They are using the female-?specific crowdfunding site, Plum Alley, for the campaign.
“We’re excited to join a growing community of ‘mompreneurs’ balancing the demands of motherhood and entrepreneurship” said Founder and CEO, Folake Oguntebi (aka my childhood friend all grown up).
With funds raised, they plan to run a proof of concept in New York City, delivering these services for at least six months in order to illustrate the significant demand for a healthy, fast, affordable and inspiring salon experience for women with textured hair.
